Hand-stitched in the traditions of English Saddlery, using what is often referred to as double-handed or saddle-stitching. This traditional saddlery style method of stitching is much stronger than machine stitching.
No sewing machines are involved in this process, all stitching is done entirely by hand.

CHOICE 3:
LENGTH OF BELT
Choose a belt length from 28”- 40”, including half sizes. English saddlers often work with imperial measurements, but many belt buckles come in metric sizes; this is why we state the length in inches and the width in both imperial and metric sizing.
IMPORTANT
Please read the instructions on how to measure for your belt, before ordering.

If you are unsure or need help with measuring please contact us using the details at the bottom of the page before ordering your belt.
For this belt we do not offer a belt size longer than 40”, as we when using a ‘Shoulder’; cutting a strip much longer than that needed for a 40” belt tends to give an end point to the buckle which is not as strong, as the point has to be cut from too close to the belly, meaning it is not as strong. Customers requiring a longer belt would be better suited to a bridle leather belt. Please enquire by email to: info@gallowayleather.co.uk
Customers interested in other kinds of modifications or personalisation to a belt e.g. extra holes or belt loops, should also enquire at info@gallowayleather.co.uk.
This 9 hole belt will come with 4 holes either side of the most used hole to compensate for any waist size fluctuations and to allow it to be worn with a greater range of clothes.
HAND-CUT
This item is cut by hand without the use of a press and instead using a traditional Saddler’s knife and other Saddlery tools.
HAND-BURNISHED
As this is veg-tanned leather, the edges of this belt are polished to a high shine by hand. We do not need to coat the raw edges in plastic as is necessary with chrome-tanned leather.
HAND-EMBOSSED
This belt comes hand-stamped on the reverse of the buckle turn with the distinctive egallowayleather logo.
CONSTRUCTION DETAIL
Corners are nicked to prevent unsightly folding and bending and edges are bevelled to remove sharp edges created when cutting the item out by hand. A Saddler works in the same way to ensure equine comfort and therefore the safety of horse and rider. Following this approach, creates an item which is not only comfortable to use but a joy to handle.
MADE IN ENGLAND
This belt is made entirely, in a small workshop in Walthamstow, London, United Kingdom.
CLEANING
We suggest cleaning this belt with a soft lint free cloth and Fiebings 4 Way to maintain its appearance and water resistant nature. Please do not use shoe polish as even clear polish may occasionally darken leather. If you feel unsure about doing this yourself, or any of the above information please contact us using the details at the bottom of the page.
